About the Abstract Series
“Mother Flora” is an ongoing series of abstract paintings that examines the intertwined forces of motherhood, nature, and emotional intuition. Rooted in my experience of living between Taipei and London, the work reflects a hybrid sensibility shaped by East Asian aesthetics and Western painterly tradition.
Through fluid lines, layered textures, and rhythmic brushstrokes, I explore the psychological and spiritual ties between the feminine body and the organic world. Each composition emerges from internal sensations—memory, breath, movement—allowing the canvas to become a site of both emergence and reflection.
In an era marked by ecological instability and social fragmentation, Mother Flora offers a quiet form of resistance and reconnection. It seeks to restore a maternal bond with the land, with ancestral memory, and with the self. These paintings are offerings—intimate and contemplative—calling us to remember the wisdom of nature within us.
At the heart of my work lies a fascination with the invisible energy that flows through natural elements—an eternal force that is serene, traceless, and beyond verbal articulation. This energy becomes the subject of my visual language, expressed through abstraction and impression in both traditional and time-based media.I view art as a spiritual pursuit. The essence of creativity lies in the invisible and the ineffable, and I aim to visualize this spirit through gestures of color, line, and form. My work investigates the relationship between human consciousness and the natural world, seeking to convey a sense of interconnectedness, subtle presence, and transformation. My process is deeply intuitive, driven by bodily memory, emotional resonance, and lived experience. I believe that the core of artistic creation begins with the most basic elements—point, line, surface—and expands outward into layered expressions of light, shadow, and sensation. Working across media allows me to explore these themes through multiple dimensions, drawing connections between interior feeling and external form.
For me, blue is the most natural color. It seems to flow between the abstract and the real, and flows in the painting, exploring nature, reflecting the color, looking for the blue light, the tones of dreams, as if being in the vast blue universe, tumbling. “The Blue of Faith” and “The Sea Blue of Our Virgin”, self-reported in the gold of the blues, are presented in a reborn way and presented with different levels of blues, natural colors, gentle perseverance, and free and easy brushwork.
I think the blue language is vast, Noble, hopeful, eternal, peaceful, tranquil, calm, peaceful, and clean. In my work, exploring the interlaced spaces that belong to different golden and blue tones, presenting the interlaced variations of blue, gold tones, and colorful colors, and the changing space of light and shadow.
